1.
Wyoming Section ASCE Spring 2003 Newsletter -
President’s Message Welcome to this first e-mail
version of our quarterly newsletter. Sorry, but the attempt this past winter
did not quite work. A repeat: Our intent is to use an e-mail version for
those with e-mail capability and to use paper and stamps for those that prefer
a traditional delivery. Over Christmas,
Rachelle Rottman (UW Engineering Student) updated our section’s e-mail address
database. There are about 251 on the
Section mailing list. Of those, we have 207 e-mail addresses (82%). A few folks
(12) do not have addresses, some (5) chose not to provide an address, and 27
were not contacted as of

3. The
University of Wyoming student Chapter of ASCE has just returned from Regional Conference in
4. Section District
16 Representative. At the Winter
meeting, Clyde Dolan and Dave Pendleton agreed to perform as District 16
representatives.
5. WACES -
15,000. The
agreement between Wyoming ASCE and the UW Civil Engineering Department will be
signed at the Spring Meeting, pending adoption by the Section. This agreement specifies how the Scholarship
Trust Fund returns are distributed. Unfortunately,
poor market conditions have probably contributed to a lousy performance. The income for 2002 was only $256.96. More
details will be available at the meeting.
6.
E-week Activities. The Section did not participate. Shame.
7.
Student Scholarship funding - Thom Edgar will give his update. The Section owes the
student group some money, especially the officers. We plan on getting squared
up.
8.
Treasurers report. Jeff Fanning has prepared a financial report for the section. This
material will be examined at the Spring meeting.
9. Minutes from
the Last meeting. George Mathes, Secretary has prepared minutes
from the winter meeting. The minutes are
included with this mailing for your reading enjoyment. They will be read for
approval at the winter meeting.
10. Summer Meeting. Traditionally,
the Section only meets three times a year. Continuing education opportunities can
be pretty thin in the summer. If you
think we ought to gather this summer, in the name of CEUs, please let an
officer know before the Spring meeting. Ideas for subject matter and for meeting
location would be helpful. We will
organize a meeting is there is some interest.
