Research Facilities

The department occupies a major share of the modern 130,000 square-foot engineering addition. The six undergraduate laboratories include a multilevel unit operations laboratory and petroleum labs dedicated to the preparation of drilling fluids and core analysis. The twenty research laboratories house a variety of modern instruments including atomic absorption, TG/FTIR, GC/MS, supercritical GC, CHN, high resolution gas adsorption, mercury porosimetry, microcalorimetery and both gas and liquid chromatography. Shop facilities include a modern machine shop, a wood shop and an instrument shop. Computation facilities are excellent.

Financial Aid

Financial support for qualified graduate students is available mainly in the form of research and teaching assistantships. The University of Wyoming waives all tuition and fees (except special fees) for all assistantships. A limited number of fellowships are available to highly qualified candidates. All assistantships require course work and research activities that are usually coincident with the MS thesis or PhD dissertation topic. Students obtaining support are obligated to perform research which will help meet the obligations of the principal investigator to the funding source.
