Outstanding Staff Award

July 20. 2009 -Heather Warren came to Laramie at the age of two and has been a fan ever since. She attended local schools and graduated from Laramie High School in 1982. Heather married Greg Warren 25 years ago and they have two children: Josh (21) and Brittany (19). Prior to starting her family, she graduated with a nursing degree in 1985. After having her children she decided to commit to staying home and caring for her growing family. She was a stay-at-home mom for 13 years until 1999, when she came to work at the University of Wyoming. Heather worked for UW Student Affairs for one year and in 2000, she moved to the Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering, where she worked for seven years. The Department was willing to work with her flexible “mom” schedule so she could take time off with her family during the summer. When her children graduated from high school and moved away to college, Heather moved into a full time position as office associate in the Department of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering where she works today. “I enjoy working with and serving the students, faculty and staff here in the College of Engineering and Applied Science, the students here are awesome and make my job fun,” said Heather. When not at work, Heather enjoys traveling around the country State to watch her son play college baseball and her daughter participate in college track. In addition to her children and husband who “are my life,” Heather also enjoys crafts, reading, scrapbooking and exercising. “Heather has made significant contributions to the development of the Department, especially during the growth that we have experienced with the re-start of the petroleum engineering undergraduate degree that has brought in many new students and faculty,” says Department Head Morris Argyle
