UW Professor Publishes Engineering TextbookNovember 5, 2007 - The second edition of a textbook by Steve Barrett, University of Wyoming associate professor of engineering, was recently released. Barrett co-wrote "Microcontroller Theory and Applications HC12 & S12" with friend and colleague Daniel Pack of the U.S. Air Force Academy. The second edition, released by Pearson-Prentice Hall Publishers, is used at universities throughout the U.S. and Canada. "Both of us were looking for a student-friendly textbook on the topic with clear description, supporting figures, many examples, and aides to assist in teaching the material in the classroom," says Barrett of his decision to write the book, which was originally published in 2002. "We could not find any to our satisfaction so we decided to write our own." Since 2002 Barrett and Pack have written three additional books related to the use of microcontrollers in embedded control systems. Their fifth book is due in November. |
