Barrett Releases 4th Textbook

October 1, 2007 - Steve Barrett, Associate Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, fourth textbook was released by Pearson-Prentice Hall Publishers September 20, 2007.  Barrett co-wrote the textbook with close friend and colleague Dr. Daniel Pack of the United States Air Force Academy.  The textbook, “Microcontroller Theory and Applications HC12 & S12,” is used at universities throughout the United States and Canada.  Since 2002, Pack and Barrett have written four textbooks related to the use of microcontrollers (single chip computers) in embedded control systems.  They have a fifth textbook due on November 1 to Morgan & Claypool Publishers.  Barrett considers writing textbooks a hobby.  He spends two hours a day from 4 to 6 AM writing so as not to interfere with university and family life.
