Tau Beta Pi Alumnus Eminent Engineer

July 30, 2007 - Jeffrey Daniel Rowe grew up in Scottsbluff, Nebraska and graduated from Scottsbluff High School as valedictorian in 1980. He continued his education at Western Nebraska Community College in Scottsbluff where he obtained his A.S.E.E. in 1982. He then traveled to the University of Wyoming where he obtained his B.S.E.E. in 1984 and later his M.S.E.E. from Arizona State University in 1994 and M.S. in Physics in 2005 from the University of Alabama.

Rowe served as senior engineer/scientist with Science Applications International Corporation in Hunstville, Alabama, from 2001-2006. During that time, he was responsible for designing, developing, writing, and testing C/C++ software for guidance, navigation, and control of autonomous robotic systems. He was involved in development of the COUGAR II control software which allowed a robotic system to follow another vehicle autonomously using RTK GPS waypoints, and assisted in development of a quaternion estimation software for use in the attitude sensing system for the COUGAR robot, and developed generalized vehicle modeling and control software.

Rowe credits much of his success in the engineering field to the excellent undergraduate education he received from the University of Wyoming.
