Engineering Design Symposium Held December 7, 2006December 11, 2006 - An estimated 400 people attended the College of Engineering Senior Design Symposium held December 7, 2006. Over 75 college seniors representing architectural, civil, chemical, petroleum, mechanical, electrical and computer engineering presented over 30 individual and team projects. Each presentation was judged by practicing professionals in the various fields and awards were given for best presentation and best design.
This is the second year that an interdisciplinary design project was presented. Students under the supervision of Dr. Charles Dolan gave a two hour presentation on the maintenance area, station, vehicle and door control, and test track design of an automated transit system for the University of Wyoming. A number of design projects this year were service-oriented such as the Ultrasonic Cane for the visually impaired and the indoor child tracking system. The UW College of Engineering would like to thank the American Council of Engineering Consultants (ACEC), the National Science Foundation, PacifiCorp, the Rocky Mountain Power Foundation, and the Volpi/Cupal Engineering Design Fund for their sponsorship.
