Fall 2006 EnrollmentNov. 13, 2006 - Enrollment reports showed increased graduate and undergraduate enrollments in 2006 with new freshman enrollment increasing 50% in part because of the Hathaway Scholarship Program. Undergraduate enrollment for chemical and petroleum engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, computer engineering, and mechanical engineering have increased this fall with total undergraduate enrollment at 1,173. Graduate student enrollment stands at 191 graduate students with 93 Ph.D. students. Engineering enrollment has remained fairly steady in comparison to national trends with a slight decrease in enrollment in computer science. With all of the talk and press at the national level on the need to educate more engineers and scientists in this country, one would expect that the number of entering students choosing to study engineering and computer science will increase. The projections also point to a strong job market for most engineering and computer science disciplines for the next few years.
