Two International Conferences HostedSept. 12, 2006 - The University of Wyoming's College of Engineering will host two international conferences September 24-27, at Jackson Lake Lodge in Grand Teton National Park. UW Professors John Pierre and Cameron Wright are co-general chairs for the conferences and Professor Robert Kubichek is the finance chair. The two electrical engineering conferences are the Digital Signal Processing (DSP) Workshop and Signal Processing Education (SPE) Workshop. The DSP Workshop's goal is to unite top researchers from around the world to discuss novel signal processing theories and methods, while the SPE Workshop's goal is to bring together world-class educators to discuss all aspects of signal processing education. Signal processing is a broad area of electrical engineering that includes commercial, consumer, and military applications. These conferences will feature technical sessions for presenting contributed papers as well as prominent keynote speakers including a talk by James Truchard, President and Co-Founder of National Instruments. Pierre states that research papers were submitted by authors from 25 countries to give the conference a very international flavor. Sponsored by the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), the conference will include over 100 participants from government labs, academia, engineering, and scientific fields. Texas Instrument, National Instruments, and Mathworks will provide additional financial support for the conferences.
