ESIG EverywhereJanuary 30, 2006 - Engineering and Computer Science students can now access the Engineering Science (ESIG) computers from any machine on campus or from their home machines with DSL or faster network connections. All of the lab applications are available. This means a student working on a computer in a University lab like COE library can connect and run ESIG lab software at that remote computer. The same would be true for students working from home, with laptops, in the Mechanical Engineering Dunn Lab or any other lab on campus. Also students using Macintosh, Unix or Linux computers can also connect and run the lab computers. The ESIG remote desktop farm consists of 20 Dell GX620 computers (3.4GHz) with 1GB of memory and 40GB of drive space. The remote desktop services from HOB Software provide easy access to the computers. Connect at: wwweng.uwyo.edu, select Current Students then ESIG Everywhere Remote Desktops. This service is located inside the University of Wyoming fire-wall. Please be sure your VPN client is active if you are working from an off-campus computer. Other Remote access options: The Engineering Graphics Interactive Science lab on first floor also provides wireless access to the ESIG Lab printers and Terminal Server support for AutoCAD, Solid Works and Matlab. This access is provided by the College of Engineering Technology Committee and the Dean of Engineering. |
