College of Engineering Announces Engineers Without Borders-Wyoming

January 17, 2006 - The University of Wyoming, College of Engineering is pleased to announce formation of the Engineers Without Borders (EWB-WYO) program. Dr. Bernard Amadei, Civil Engineering Professor from the University of Colorado at Boulder, and founder of EWB-USA will be the keynote speaker at the EWB-WYO Chapter Installation on Thursday, January 26, at 4 p.m. in the Wyoming Union Senate Chambers.

A student chapter of EWB will expand students’ education and experience to address the world’s engineering needs. The mission is “to partner with disadvantaged communities to improve their quality of life through implementation of environmentally, equitable, and economically sustainable engineering projects, while developing internationally responsible engineers and engineering students.”

EWB-USA was founded by Amadei as a result of his experience in solving a water transportation problem in San Pablo, Belize. There are now more than 60 student chapters throughout the United States.
