Swirling Jet
|
Brief Description The swirling jet facility was developed to provide very well-conditioned turbulent swirling jets to allow the study of phenomena relevant to this unique class of flows. In particular, attention was paid to how the swirl was introduced to both minimize the artifacts in the jet flow due to the introduction of swirl and to allow for a combination of a wide range axial/tangential flow combinations to create a range of Swirl number/Reynolds number combinations. Funds for the initial development of this facility were provided by the University of Wyoming and the Air Force Office of Scientific Research. Undergraduate students Robert Gilchrist and Shane Buller designed, assisted in the fabrication, and performed the initial tests in this facility. List of Experiments
