Particle Image Velocimetry
|
Brief Description The Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) technique measures whole velocity fields by taking two images shortly after each other and calculating the distance individual particles traveled within this time. From the known time difference and the measured displacement the velocity is calculated. UWAL facility has LaVision PIV system, with a dual frame CCD camera and a 50 mJ Nd-YAG laser system. To estimate the flow velocity field from the images LaVision software is used. List of Experiments 1) Near wake study 2) Airfoil flutter control 3) Flow field measurements in tow tank 4) Growth rate of swirling jet using flow visualization |
