Hot-wire Anemometry

Brief Description

Hot-wire anemometer is a method of measuring fluid velocities at a single point by measuring heat transfer rate from a small wire or film immersed in the fluid. The rate at which heat is removed from the sensor due to the fluid flowing over it is directly related to the velocity of the fluid at that location. Hot-wire anemometry can be constant voltage or constant temperature. The advantages of thermal anemometry include high accuracy, an easily-automated collection procedure, and a high frequency response allowing measurement of turbulent flows. At UWAL, for the research work constant temperature boundary layer hot-wire, cross wire are used extensively. UWAL has 8 channel of AN-1003 constant temperature hot-wire anemometer.
