Laramie is located 45 miles west of Cheyenne along I-80, approximately two hours drive from Denver International Airport.  Settled in the mid-19th century along the Union Pacific Railroad line, Laramie embodies the rich essence of the Great American West.

Laramie is home to the University of Wyoming, which is the only provider of baccalaureate and graduate education in a state of some one-half million people and 98,000 square miles.  Combining major-university benefits and small-school advantages, students receive a truly unique and quality educational experience.  UW stands at the forefront in the exploration of emerging technologies and concepts, giving students the types of hands-on involvement and one-on-one attention rarely found at other colleges and universities.

Laramie is situated on  a high plain between two mountain ranges: The Medicine Bow Range (known locally as the Snowy Range) 30 miles to the west, and the Laramie Range five miles to the east.  The area offers a wide range of outdoor activities including fishing, camping, hiking, mountain biking, skiing, and snowmobiling to fit any outdoor enthusiast’s level of expertise.
