ICASE was established in 1972 as an institute for research in Applied and Numerical Mathematics, Computer Science and Fluid Mechanics located at NASA Langley, in Hampton Virginia. The institute was closed on December 31, 2002.  During its existence, ICASE was always located on the NASA Langley grounds, most often in close proximity to the relevant computational methods branches at NASA Langley.  Over the years, ICASE hosted many of the best recognized researchers in numerical methods either as visiting faculty, or staff scientists, and had a profound impact on the development of numerical methods both at NASA Langley and worldwide.  The vast collection of ICASE reports are well known and often cited in the literature.

Although the ICASE web site was temporarily off-line, it is currently back on-line, hosted by USRA.
University Space Research Association (USRA) is a non-profit organization which manages various research institutes around the United States, and operated ICASE during existence.
A summary of of the research conducted at ICASE, during its 30 years of operation, can be found at the ICASE web site.

ICASE REPORTS

There have been many inquiries concerning the availablity of ICASE reports.
These were previously available on-line at the ICASE web site.

Currently, the links from this site to download reports are not active.  Abstracts for all the reports are available on-line, but downloading is not enabled.  All these reports were also NASA Contractor Reports (NASA-CR).  Many are available on-line through the  NASA Langley Technical Report Server.  All reports should be available in hard copy form through the NASA Langley library.  Knowing the NASA-CR number can greatly simply this process.  These numbers are listed with the abstracts of the reports at the ICASE web site (under the publications link).

The National Institute of Aerospace (NIA)  also maintains an ICASE Resource link.  NIA is a new institute created by NASA Langley which absorbed many of the existing ICASE researchers and administrative staff.  In addition to their ICASE Resource link, NIA staff may be able to answer questions about past ICASE personnel and technical reports.
