During his 39 year career as a Professor, Dean, and President of the University of Wyoming, H.T. Person touched lives, inspired his students and shaped the UW College of Engineering. He was loved and respected by his colleagues, his peers and most importantly by"his students." With great affection, students called him "Prof." They remember his ability to make complicated subject matter understandable, and that his door was always open to students.

Those who remember the impact that H.T. Person had on their lives, believe that an endowment bearing his name is the single best tribute to his career, life and memory. The H.T. Person Endowment for the College of Engineering has been established to honor this outstanding educator, who has touched so many lives. Members of the Endowment Committee set out to raise an endowment large enough to support a chair that would be dedicated to teaching. It will provide a lasting legacy for engineering excellence and permanent recognition of the man whose name it bears. The funds generated by this endowment will make possible the H.T. Person Distinguished Professorship. H.T.'s exemplary commitment to engineering education and the advancement of the discipline will be used as a model in selecting a professor with the national stature required to enhance the prestige and reputation of the College.
