Other Fun Activities

Bingo

We played an on-going game of bingo on Tuesday night winning UW accessories. Just like any other Bingo anticipation grows as you are waiting for that last number to be called only to have someone else beat you. This was however not the usual bummer because we just kept the cards as they were and continued the game. This way it went much faster so we could get to the root-beer floats that came afterward. One of the best things about the ESP program was all the planned activities for us in the evenings.

Bowling

Another activity that the Engineering Summer Program students participated in was bowling. Down at the local bowling alley in Laramie there was some major competition between the kids. No one bowled under the 250's. It was intense but yet very fun.

Bowling Again

(Left and from left to right)Dominique, Tyler, Scotty, Ben, Adam and Morgan pose for a picture while (Right) Lori, one of our counselors, bowls.

We went bowling after our third day. We had five lanes in a row and we were all able to cheer each other on (or boo at each other, whatever the case may be!). Understandably, we were very goofy and full of laughter. The scores ranged from 187 to somewhere in the forties, but everybody had a good time. When some were tired of bowling, they moved on to pool and foosball. It was a really fun night!

Climbing

The Climbing Wall was really great! For many of us, it was the first time we had ever been climbing. Therefore, before we began, the people working there gave us a quick lesson on how to belay and climb safely, as well as how to tie the necessary knots and wear our harnesses. Then, they set us free! Climbing was certainly a challenge to many of us, but with encouragement, everybody who participated managed to make it to the top of the wall at least one time. After people were done climbing, they waited and relaxed and watched those who were still going strong. Some people decided to have fun in the rest of the gym while others just chose to watch. This was a great experience!

Fun Night

During this beautiful afternoon in Laramie, Wyoming a group of teenagers; from the Engineering Summer Program were enjoying some fun interacting games with each other.

This game that they were playing involved a giant beach ball that had hundreds of random questions that they had to read and answer to help get to know each other. After answering the question the person with the ball passed it to another person then when they caught the ball they had to read the question closest to their left thumb.

Mini Golf

ESP didn't keep us cooped up on the campus all day. They took us to the mini golf course and we got to putt a round. Not only were we able to have fun but we actually learned that Laramie does have a mini golf course.

Picnics

We had two picnics. The first picnic was Monday night at Washington Park. We had hamburgers and chips and some of Ms. McCormack's amazing bowl cake. We also played horseshoes and football and basketball as well as chatted. The second picnic was in the Snowy Mountain Range at Barber Lake Sunday afternoon. That was beautiful. Some of us went on a hike on a beautiful path, while others chose to attempt to fish in a stagnant lake, while still others played horseshoes and others just sat and talked. David, one of our counselors, brought his dogs and they provided tons of entertainment. A group of us ended the day with a massive game of goldfish: eleven people and two decks of cards! There, we ate sub sandwiches and roasted marshmallows! This was an amazing afternoon!

One night we traveled to the mountains where some hiked, played cards, fished with a stick and some wire, and of course roasted marshmallows. There isn't a better way to spend time then with a bunch of friends in the mountains and ESP defiantly supplied us with that.

Skating

This is a picture of the best roller bladders in the world. This is actually the Engineering summer program kids after they learn how to skate and then shortly after they became the best in the whole state. One of the best learning experiences of their lives.

This is the face of a person that is just learning how to skate and actually almost completely killed a little 4 year old boy after crashing into him.

Photo Scavenger Hunt

The first night we arrived we got to know the campus and a couple of the kids at the camp. We were given riddles about places around the campus. We would travel and take a picture. The pictures could be as funny or serious as you would like. It was a great way to become familiar with a place many of us had never been.

Snacks

Snacks were given to us just about every day. Who would complain about that? It was a break from the classes. Some played games and others quickly ate and went back to the class anxious to continue they're projects.
