Composite materials are all around us. They are used in everything from airplanes, to xylophones. In the composite materials course, you will be introduced to the design, testing, and analysis of composite materials that you will make. The class is very hands-on; you will be able to make your own custom samples which will then be put under stress. Some materials made by students have held over sixty thousand pounds of stress per square inch, while others have failed under their own weight.
An overview of the class of composites limits itself to one word, educational. On our first day, we were told composites are most likely the only class you will get nice & dirty as soon as you walk in the door. Meeting Kelly, our instructor, we knew that a lie was not upon us. Assisted by a one of a kind TA, Jarvis, made the class that much better. We strongly stress for you to sign up for this class; because when it's all over, it definitely will stick with you for a long time. It's exciting; you get to break stuff. Wahoo!
