General Fun

ESP 2005 was filled with fun, educational, and bonding experiences.  Apart from visiting the Warren AFB, going on the first picnic, going to Barber Lake, bowling, skating, going to the movies, and testing our climbing abilities on the rock wall, ESPers enjoyed a plethora of other activities.

We had the luxury of two TVs on which we watched many movies and fried our brains staring open-mouthed at the TV until one in the morning playing Halo 2.  Some smart person purchased the electronic version of the game “Catch Phrase” which kept many of us intensely occupied.  Cards were also a popular way to pass the time in the dorms.

We also went put-put golfing and were eaten alive by mosquitoes.  Another activity in which mosquitoes were abundant was the frisbee golf course around the UW campus.

We also played an exciting game of Ultimate Frisbee in Washington Park during which many people sustained injuries and acquired irremovable grass stains.

UW has its own Planetarium and various high-tech observatories. After watching the show at the Planetarium, we went to the roof and saw one of the telescopes, but it was too cloudy to see anything.  The following week, though, we returned to the roof and looked through a telescope at Jupiter and four of its moons.

Many an interesting conversation was had at the Washakie dining hall, but most of the eating time was spent staring aimlessly at the wall.  Also, in the afternoons, guest speakers talked to us about various topics and UW program offerings, such as the Honors Program, financial aid, academics, the Study Abroad Program, and admissions.
