The purpose of this program is to get middle school age girls interested in Math/Science/Engineering. It also gives the girls an opportunity to experience the campus and gain interest in attending the University of Wyoming upon graduation from high school. The girls have a blast making new friends and learning new things that relate to engineering around them.
When: One week in the summer; The 2009 dates are June 7-12, 2009.
What: Hands on exploration of areas such as Robotics, Digital Electronics Prototyping, Computer Programming, and Applied Mathematics. (You will also have lots of time for hiking, movies, bowling, swimming, rock climbing, and a picnic at Vedauwoo.)
Who: This program is open to middle school girls completing 6th-8th grades, who have an interest in Computer Science, Math, and Engineering.
Where: The camp is on the University of Wyoming campus in Laramie. Campers will stay in a chaperoned wing of the residence halls and participate in workshops at the College of Engineering.
Cost: The only cost to campers is the transportation to and from the campus. The cost of the room and board and all activities is covered by the ESWI program.
Who will be In Charge?: Faculty from the Colleges of Engineering, Education, and Arts& Sciences with assistance from graduate and undergraduate students in the disciplines. Supervision of campers will be provided 24 hours/day.
