The USGS/State of Wyoming Water Research Program (WRP), placed at the University of Wyoming, is the program given the task of overseeing the coordination of Wyoming's portion of the nationwide USGS program on water research. This program in Wyoming, as it is nationwide, uses USGS and State funds to carry out Institute sponsored research and education related to water issues in each state. A program Director is selected by the University to oversee and coordinate the WRP. The Director is supported by a Priorities and Selection Committee formed from representatives of the State agencies involved in water related issues. This committee solicits project ideas and determines research priorities, identifies projects and issues Requests for Proposals, selects projects, and reviews and negotiates project structures and teams. As a minimum, annual reports and a final report are required for each project. The Wyoming Water Resources Data System (WRDS) serves to dissemination these reports by posting products on the Internet and by housing records and documents in the WRDS Water Library. The following are the annual reports for projects supported under the WRP during FY2007 (March 2007 through February 2008).
The Project Reports are in Adobe Acrobat format as required by the USGS:
Project 11 Subsurface Drip Irrigation Systems: Assessment and Development of Best Management Practices
Project 15 Real-Time Monitoring of E-Coli Contamination in Wyoming Surface Waters
Project 17 Predicting drought in the Green River basin
Project 18 Precipitation Measurement and Growth Mechanisms in Orographic Wyoming snowstorms
Project 19 Tracing Glacial Ice and Snow Meltwater With Isotopes
Project 20 Integrated Management of Groundwater and Surface Water Resources: Investigation of Different Management Strategies and Testing in a Modeling Framework
Project 21 Detecting the Signature of Glaciogenic Cloud Seeding in Orographic Snowstroms in Wyoming Using the Wyoming Cloud Radar
Project 22 Weather Modification Impacts and Forecasting of Streamflow
