Except where noted equipment and data is the product of the University of Wyoming hydrologic measurements and modeling group. We would like to acknowledge the support of the U.S. Department of Energy, the Ruckelshaus Institute of Environment and Natural Resources at the University of Wyoming, and the Padlock Ranch. Broadly, the objective of this project in the Powder River Basin of Wyoming is to better understand factors that result in recharge to the deeper confined groundwater aquifers in the Powder River Basin. To that end, a variety of instruments are being employed to better understand the water budget and important pathways for water in the recharge areas where the Fort Union/Madison and Wasatch formations reach the land surface.
