Hapco Impact Damper

Hapco manufactures an impact damper that is successfully used on luminaires to suppress high frequency modes caused by vortex shedding. The damper is constructed from a 2-in (51- mm) diameter aluminum pipe with a rod/teflon ring placed loosely inside. As the pipe vibrates laterally, the teflon ring impacts the inside of the aluminum pipe.
